How can I get on college mailing lists?
Q. What can I do to get on or subscribe to college mailing lists , and get information mailed to me about those colleges?
Asked by Shash - Fri Feb 17 18:02:20 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, I get a lot of information from collegs right now. That is because of my excellent scores on the ACT, PSAT, PLAN and a couple other tests. Otherwise you could go to each individual website for the college and subscribe. Or try going to the College Board Website:

Do you know how to get onto mailing lists of colleges?
Q. I want to get information from colleges, but I dont know how to get on the lists. Is there any website that I could sign up for a college search or mailing list?

A. Are you still in high school? Ask your school's guidance councelor. They would know good websites to visit, based on the career you want to have. If you know what college you want to go to, Google it. Most of their websites have some way to contact an admissions representative.

Where is a reliable place to buy corporate mailing lists?
Q. Where is a reliable place to buy corporate mailing lists? I am in Toronto Canada and I am looking for a list of mid to large size firms to submit them some advertising offers. Specifically, I want the mailing addresses of people who are in charge of marketing in these firms. I see that there are so many mailing list sellers online, and I don't which one to choose. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks

A. Read the fine print of the email. It should give you an address and instructions on how to if not just go to the website and usually there is a link to get your name off that specific mailing list

A. If you're in the UK, check out the Direct Marketing Association and use a company that's registered with them. They also have an annual show usually in Earls Court or Olympia, which is worth going to for shopping around and meeting some of the companies that provide lists.

Mailing Lists!!!!!!!
Q. I am looking to promote my new copy typing business, and I need any people's email I was wondering whether there was a site that could provide this for me? Thanks
Asked by Mona - Thu Aug 7 08:11:24 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Think before you spend your money on mailing lists. Consider who your target markets are and then start on finding e-mail addresses for them. Yell.com is a good place to search for specific types of businesses. Do not, however, just click on the e-mail this company link. As a business owner it annoys me intensely that people do this to promote their products and services. Go to the company's website and find the name of the person to contact and their e-mail address. That way, you send a more personalised message and stand a far better chance of getting a response. I will usually reply to someone who's taken the trouble to find out who I am and something about my business. It's not a fast solution but it's better than buying lots… [cont.]

Can you donate to a political campaign without being put on their mailing lists?
Q. I've never donated to a political campaign, but I do get mailings from my local Representative since I'm a constituent. I assume that if you donate to one of the political campaigns you will receive mailings from them. Is this true? Is there a way to donate without being put on a mailing list?
Asked by I Like Reading - Sun Mar 16 12:23:16 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No. You can't. For one thing, there are legal limitations on how much you can give to a particular candidate in any election cycle, so they need to be able to track that. Mainly, though, there's no way a politician is going to let your name go if you're one of the small minority of Americans who will actually donate directly to a political campaign. I suppose you could ask, but I doubt they'll accommodate your request.

How can I get off mass-mailing lists for free?
Q. I get SO much junk mail! I really dont use the coupons (I only shop at 2 grocery stores and I just pick up their circular, and I call ahead to restaurants for their specials) I want to save these companies money on their postage, and I hate knowing all the paper that is wasted on this thing. For now, I just recycle it, but it is REALLY getting cold here, and I dread making the walk to my apartment complex recycling bin in below freezing temperatures. It's just so inconvenient. Can anyone tell me where to go to remove myself from these lists for free? Like a Do-Not-Junk-Mail registry?

Are there (postal) mailing lists I can get on to have Las Vegas casino and hotel deals sent to us?
Q. My and My husband recently got married in Las Vegas and we both loved it so much we are going to back at least once a year on our anniversary and hopefully in between, we are even considering moving there permanently. Is there any mailing lists or publications I could have delivered to my home (half way across the country) with specials and deals and even information on local Las Vegas attractions and events and or more?

A. Each individual/group-owned casino normally sends their mailings to whomever has their casino cards. The cards build points for special deals when you play. You register with name and address inside the casino, and the card is free.

A. I think purchasing mailing lists is a poor investment. You'd make better use of your resources if you joined a couple of professional associations related to your website product or service. Members of an organization can usually get access to each others' information and that information will be accurate, current and up-to-date. I am a writer. I do purchase the Writer's Market, which lists every agent, publisher, magazine, book, literary reviewer and writing-related resource in the world. I still have to phone and find out the name of the current magazine editor, because these people change jobs frequently. I am now building my list with qualified leads. The person or organization has to be someone who would be likely to use my… [cont.]

A. Most people get the college junk mail becuase they said on the SATs that they wanted to subscribe to such. If you call college board at 609-771-7600 (not toll free) or mail them at The College Board PO box 234112 New York New York 10023. If this doesn't work tracking down who leaked your information would be best.

A. In the All New Mail---it's called a "distribution list". In the Classic Mail---it's called a "Category". Distribution List: Click this link for details on making a list. It explains it better than I can. Click the--"working with lists" tab. ... Category: On your mail page, click on "contacts" and your address book opens. >>check each name you want in this category. >>then click the "add to category" link-(next to the "send to" tab). >>in the drop down list, click on "new category" and a name box opens. >>type in a name---no special characters, nor more than 12 letters. Just keep it simple--and then click "ok"---and it's done. All you have to do now, is enter the "category name" in the address line you prefer, and everyone in that… [cont.]

A. If you are in the UK then it is wrong, and a breach of the Data Protection Act - unless you get the express prior consent of all of the people whose details you are passing on.
